Hot Fashion Trends for Late Summer

There are a few fashion trends in summer acccessories that are likely to stick around all through late summer and into the fall.

All year there has been a retro leean towards the kind of feathered and beaded earrings, necklaces and belts that Cher might have worn on her television show in the seventies.  Corded bracelets with big aqua and orange opaque beads are in fashion as are thong leather sandals with braided straps.d This is also a nod to the Idle No More movement which is generating a minor trend in fashion towards indigenou styles.  However whether or not it is politically correct to wear these stylses is another matter

Bib necklaces are also very hot this season. These are collars like chokers that then have reams of jewels or crochet draping about the neck like a kerchief.  The V shape usually hangs around the neck and below the breasts. The thing that makes the 2013 version different than the ones made of metal we have seen the past few years is that the bauble or beads tend to be of different sizes.

Multi-strand necklaces are a carryover from the last couple of seasons and they are still going to be in style. Whether they are made out of chains or multi-colored these necklaces look great on everyone.

There was a trend a few years ago towards wearing you belt just under the breasts to give your long flowing dresses more of an empire waist. You are going to see this revived for this fall.  Think of using a wide or shirred belt as a bodice.  The coolest ones will be made of leather with a tiered or double buckle in black and for summer white, lime or hot pink colors.

In terms of purses the smaller the better. The latest trend is towards little purses, the size of change purses that hang on long braided leather straps and that are molded to look like the faces of animals.  A little less childish are the large, elegant fabric bags with big wooden beads and handles that have forties and fifties styles kitch prints on it.

When it comes to keeping the rain off of your clear umbrellas are back in style especially if they have that big bubble shape. A true mod umbrella with a clear plastic bubble and black and white color design is not cheap!  They usually cost about thirty dollars or more.  However that is the price you pay to look as elegant as a Mary Quant model from the sixties.

Looking Summery and Extra Sexy

If you want to look really sexy this summer then try the old Laura Petrie/ Audrey Hepburn look. Try wearing a very long crisp linen or cotton shirt with a very thin pair of black capri pants and flat black ballerina slippers.   This is a look from the fifties and sixties. However if you want to update it so that the look is retro 80s then try wearing a long crisp shirt in dark red or purple over the capri pants and put on a pair of high heels.  If the Lucille Ball look is what you are after then wear a checkered shirt over the capris and tie a chiffon scarf around  your neck.  Any of these looks are very casual but also very sexy and perfect for wearing to both casual and more fancy events. In fact, a look like this can take you from work to a bbq to a club without having to worry too much about what to wear.

Bangles that jangle help you look very sexy in the summer. Be sure to wear ten or more very thing bangles on your home for a look that is retro seventies. To look a little more heathen wear a jangling ethnic inspired earrings and an ankle bracelet.    Pair this with a muscle shirt that displays your body and a long skirt and you are set for summer fun.

A brightly colored muscle shirt also looks super sexy paired with a short leather mini skirt. Be sure to wear lots of jewelry on your arms and a few chains around your neck to make this look ultra sexy.  Pair the look with a pair of white open toed high heel pumps for a Betty Boop type look.

If you are worried about you look in a muscle shirt try layering one over the other. You can also layer two skimpy t-shirts together in the same way.  Find t-shirts made out of a thin silky material and layer them over each other for a sexy effect.

Fingernails and toenails become important in the summer. Get one good pedicure and make sure it is done in a cool Summer 2013 color like steel grey or bright lime green. You can also never go wrong with a nail that is painted in a gleaming chrome color of some kind.

It is also a good idea to smell sexy.  Stick to summery smells with perfumes made out of lavender, citrus, pepper, pomegranate and forest smells.  Stay away from heavy cinnamon, amber or musk based perfumes in the summer.

Orange is a Big Color This Spring

If you want to add one color to your wardrobe to add real “zing for Spring” then be sure to add anything orange. Every shade of orange is going to be in fashion whether it be a mandarin, a terracotta, a carrot, an amber, a honey or pumpkin shade.

Orange is an interesting color because it speaks of joy, living in in the moment and warmth of spirit. It is a fun color and it survives very nicely through the next two seasons of summer and fall.   If you are buying the color orange in order to wear it through a couple of seasons then it is recommended you go for a brighter or darker orange. The oranges that are paler are more associated with summer. However an orange hue that borders on peach does translated to the office or school very well for fall.

Can you expect to see people wearing orange from head to toe this Spring? Yes you can. All kinds of designers sent models down the runways wearing pant suits, cropped tops and pants and full two-piece menswear ensembles. Orange looks great when it is tailored like menswear because the exuberance of the color contrasts nicely with the masculinity of a suit color. White or a soft light peach or cream color is usually worn with these types of outfits.

Orange is a color that is associated with the sixties mod look and lots of that type of retro will be seen in stores this spring in the form of cute mini-dresses and mini-skirt with large white patchwork pockets, buttons and white hem details.

Orange was even seen on the runways in the form of long evening gowns. Designer Jenny Peckam has made a long straight evening gown with a boat neck and long sleeves that shimmers with sequins and round bangles sewn on the three quarter length sleeves.

Orange is also seen on the runway combined with other colors in the tropical spectrums of magenta pink and banana yellow. These color combinations are sobered up a bit with the addition of black trim on the clothing and also by pairing the clothing with patent leather black belts, purses and high heel ankle boots.

Don’t be afraid to wear the color of orange this fall. It is the color of real confidence!
