Looking Summery and Extra Sexy

If you want to look really sexy this summer then try the old Laura Petrie/ Audrey Hepburn look. Try wearing a very long crisp linen or cotton shirt with a very thin pair of black capri pants and flat black ballerina slippers.   This is a look from the fifties and sixties. However if you want to update it so that the look is retro 80s then try wearing a long crisp shirt in dark red or purple over the capri pants and put on a pair of high heels.  If the Lucille Ball look is what you are after then wear a checkered shirt over the capris and tie a chiffon scarf around  your neck.  Any of these looks are very casual but also very sexy and perfect for wearing to both casual and more fancy events. In fact, a look like this can take you from work to a bbq to a club without having to worry too much about what to wear.

Bangles that jangle help you look very sexy in the summer. Be sure to wear ten or more very thing bangles on your home for a look that is retro seventies. To look a little more heathen wear a jangling ethnic inspired earrings and an ankle bracelet.    Pair this with a muscle shirt that displays your body and a long skirt and you are set for summer fun.

A brightly colored muscle shirt also looks super sexy paired with a short leather mini skirt. Be sure to wear lots of jewelry on your arms and a few chains around your neck to make this look ultra sexy.  Pair the look with a pair of white open toed high heel pumps for a Betty Boop type look.

If you are worried about you look in a muscle shirt try layering one over the other. You can also layer two skimpy t-shirts together in the same way.  Find t-shirts made out of a thin silky material and layer them over each other for a sexy effect.

Fingernails and toenails become important in the summer. Get one good pedicure and make sure it is done in a cool Summer 2013 color like steel grey or bright lime green. You can also never go wrong with a nail that is painted in a gleaming chrome color of some kind.

It is also a good idea to smell sexy.  Stick to summery smells with perfumes made out of lavender, citrus, pepper, pomegranate and forest smells.  Stay away from heavy cinnamon, amber or musk based perfumes in the summer.

The Leather Harness

Over the years the leather harness has been seen as part of fashion but it is until just recently that they were less of a sexual or fetish issue.  Bondage fetish fashion has been around for years and pioneered by Madonna in the early 90s. The fashion trend appeared again in 2009 when it was all about leather, studs and chains. Now it has become something a little more classic and refined. It is still a fetish item but more luxurious in design.

Essentially a harness is a contraption that attaches a belt to a collar choker on the neck in some way. On the runway this spring it was seen without the studs and buckles in a flat thin leather augmenting long sweeping silk gowns.  Designer Ann Emeulemeeester envisioned it as an asymmetrical belt with several bands that stream up in one sheath of leather over the neck and that is worn with a long grey silk gown and pieces of floating shawl threaded through the asymmetrical bands.

Max Azria for BCBG concocted a leather harness without metal that attached in a V from the neck to the waist and was embellished with black lace. This was worn over a long bright white very formal looking gown with a boat neck.

Diesel Black Gold featured a harness in white canvass attached by netting, ties and zippers and pouches so that it resembles a vest. This subtle and quite wearable bondage look is a throwback to the nineties when bondage style clothing was a real street look.  This Diesel version features the vest fitted over a white sheer dress.

D-Squared has also featured a unique look that is a harness created out of black leather studded cutouts. This type of harness is made to look more haute couture because it is worn over a flouncy silk dress and also with a ton of heavy pearl jewelry.

Max Azria turned the whole idea of the harnesses into a high-end leather vest complete with a criss cross of wide leather straps. These harness-like vest were worn over the brand’s signature black and flesh colored bandage dress.

Some harnesses seen on spring runways were surprisingly dainty and looked almost like suspenders. Jason Wu featured two very thin black leather straps attached to a thin belt over a pink peplum dress.  Worn with sheer net gloves and stiletto sandals with sheer net socks the look was naughty but nice all at the same time.

Boho is Back

The Bohemian look is back for this Spring.  This is a look that does not seem to die. It originated in the late fifties and comes back for a season once or twice each decade.  Each time the Bohemian look, also known as the Boho look, comes back it is additionally modernaized with new signature elements. Everything from long maxi dresses to big floppy haps to lace and floral prints from India are back in the stores this summer.

It has been ages since we have seen anything head to toe in tan sued. However St. Laurent’s Spring 2013 collection features exactly that. Yves St. Laurent featured a tan jacket and dress with tight long sleeves, a buttoned bodice with threading, patched pockets and a waist tie.  He also featured a flour length floral dress with big puffy sleeves and a ruffled neck that was tied with sash with curtain closure style tassels. All of the Yves St. Laurent models word e the same huge blue felt hat with a huge brim.

This year’s Boho style is uniquely gentle with an almost fairy-like silhouette.  Models from Blugirl wear a circlet of flowers around the head along with a blouson style dress. Pinks, peaches and flesh tones with sheer overlayers and underlayers were prevalent along with larger “painted looking” floral prints. Many designers also showed good old fashoned smocked dresses with above-the –knee length and tight French cuffs.

Some designers were showing crimped looking silhouettes empire waists and gold Indian braiding. Painted florals and whimsical braided hems adorned the fabrics.

Rachel Zoe did a little more formalized version of the Bohemian look. This cleaned up version featured models wearing large broad brimmed black hats with long silky dresses.  The models wore ultra modern fanny packs made out of shiny vinyl.

Light fabrics, lace detailing and paisley prints wren seen on many runways in the form of both lightweight see-through pantsuits and long dresses.  Vanessa Bruno showed these prints along with tan sandals. Some of the carefree silk pant suits show by Versace were comfortable, cool yet statement making. Although these were Bohemian looks they were polished and made couture enough to wear anywhere.  Tie dyed silks with flared sleeves were characteristic of the Versace looks.   His long loose top were cinched with detailed silver belts and apron necklaces made out of sparkling threads and coins.

Orange is a Big Color This Spring

If you want to add one color to your wardrobe to add real “zing for Spring” then be sure to add anything orange. Every shade of orange is going to be in fashion whether it be a mandarin, a terracotta, a carrot, an amber, a honey or pumpkin shade.

Orange is an interesting color because it speaks of joy, living in in the moment and warmth of spirit. It is a fun color and it survives very nicely through the next two seasons of summer and fall.   If you are buying the color orange in order to wear it through a couple of seasons then it is recommended you go for a brighter or darker orange. The oranges that are paler are more associated with summer. However an orange hue that borders on peach does translated to the office or school very well for fall.

Can you expect to see people wearing orange from head to toe this Spring? Yes you can. All kinds of designers sent models down the runways wearing pant suits, cropped tops and pants and full two-piece menswear ensembles. Orange looks great when it is tailored like menswear because the exuberance of the color contrasts nicely with the masculinity of a suit color. White or a soft light peach or cream color is usually worn with these types of outfits.

Orange is a color that is associated with the sixties mod look and lots of that type of retro will be seen in stores this spring in the form of cute mini-dresses and mini-skirt with large white patchwork pockets, buttons and white hem details.

Orange was even seen on the runways in the form of long evening gowns. Designer Jenny Peckam has made a long straight evening gown with a boat neck and long sleeves that shimmers with sequins and round bangles sewn on the three quarter length sleeves.

Orange is also seen on the runway combined with other colors in the tropical spectrums of magenta pink and banana yellow. These color combinations are sobered up a bit with the addition of black trim on the clothing and also by pairing the clothing with patent leather black belts, purses and high heel ankle boots.

Don’t be afraid to wear the color of orange this fall. It is the color of real confidence!
